Step #3 - Entry Assessment:

Each student is required to complete an assessment test prior to enrollment at the Islamic School of Hamilton.

  • For Grades SK-8, the assessment will cover Language and Math content from the previous year.
  • Students must achieve a minimum score of 60% in language and 60% in math on the assessment to be eligible for enrollment. Each student has a maximum of two attempts to pass the test. After two attempts, they will be placed at the end of the waitlist.
  • If a student scores between 50-59% in either the language or math section, they will still be accepted, contingent upon their agreement to participate in learning resource classes within the school for additional support.
  • For Preschool and Junior Kindergarten, the assessment is not a formal test. Instead, it consists of a one-on-one session with the teacher, focusing on social interaction and academic readiness.
Waiting List:

As of January 2025, most of our classes are full, and additional applicants will be placed on the waitlist.

  • New applications will be processed in order of submission, after students already on the waitlist.
  • Siblings on the waitlist: If a spot becomes available for one sibling, we cannot guarantee that all siblings will be offered spots simultaneously.
  • Once a spot becomes available, we will contact you via phone and email. If we do not receive a response within a reasonable time, we will move on to the next student on the waitlist and may remove the non-responsive student from the list.
  • If a spot does not become available during the application year, the student’s application will be carried over to the next year's waitlist.

As of January 2025, most of our classes are full, and additional applicants will be placed on the waitlist.

Grade Placement:

Students will be placed in their respective grades based on their birthdate, in accordance with the Ontario Ministry of Education’s guidelines.
